I thought I'd post up some pics of the Christmas Market I did with Emma from the curious bea blog in Bath a few weeks back.

It was in the TINY Makery Emporium in Bath, we were super jammed in but everything being sold there was gorgeous. Whilst manning our table, Emma taught me how to knit and my first project, a knitted tie for my husband has kept me busy over the holidays! x

FieldCandy - A touch of chintz

I was recently commissioned by FieldCandy to create a pattern for a limited edition tent, best use for a pattern yet! The website is great and there is some amazing illustration there, including some from my friend Emily Golden. I think the 'Fully Booked' by Jack Maxwell might be my favourite, check it out.

Below is my original design which was more distressed with a wallpaper feel.

I've just finished a set of 4 book jackets, each featuring keepsakes, collected trinkets and objects from the lives of a typical Grandad, Dad, Grandma & Mum. There were about 20 illustrations for each one, in a mixture of colour and black and white. The design company are laying out the covers, so I've just picked a few I liked and jumbled them together here to show you!

Candle packaging

I came across some packaging I illustrated a while back for candle tins, and thought I'd show the product photo alongside the rough and final artwork, which ended up as a vector.

The idea was to keep the illo black and white so that different coloured backgrounds could be applied for each fragrance, I love the orange one! Got a bit of a thing for orange at the moment, it used to be my least favorite colour, now it's up there with teal and red :)

I am a part of The Rise Set which is a multidisciplinary design collective based in the South West of England, we have just finished our brand spanking new website, and you can check out the what we've been up to recently on our blog.

We don't have a bath in our flat, but if we did I'd definitely want a pet frog, and some ducks. When we lived on our canal boat we rescued a tiny chick who had lost it's family and I put him in the bath...until the RSPCA told us we had to let him go and 'let nature take it's course', meanies.

I visited my friend Lou in Bristol this weekend and finally got around to taking some decent pictures of the finished mural I drew on her wall, armed with lots black Posca pens (they are amazing!)

I was originally planning to add gold detail but we really liked it just black in the end.

Hopefully I'll get to do more this year, drawing big is fun!

My friend Luke James has illustrated this awesome 'Royal Rumble' tea towel to commemorate the impending nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Each tea towel is 100% cotton and had been screen printed by Luke in his Hoxton studio using eco-friendly inks.

Next one up, a magical scene of which cannot be complete without over-grown lady birds, 3 suns and a nice splash of purple ink! I think I like this one best so far and I've cunningly re-used the flowers I drew in a post a while back, they look much better in this setting! Tried out a million different colour combinations, do think guys would wear the top one as a tee? I've posted some other girl/guy versions below, don't think they look as nice as the top one though...

I spent all of yesterday drawing on my layout pad with my lovely rotring pen, which I have missed very much! Look out for wolves, foxes and ladies with flower heads coming soon! I'm playing around with more texture and focusing on decorative detail.

The Loon on the Moon on CBeebies!

I'm so proud of my very talented best friend Emily Golden today, her very first children's book, The Loon on the Moon, was read out on CBeebies last night as the bed time story! If you have kids you can watch or download the story being read here.

It's such a gorgeous book, and it has been nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2011 for distinguished illustration in a book for children, the shortlist is published 8th April so fingers crossed!! You can buy the Loon on the Moon from Amazon or in most bookshops.

Yellow Bird Project - Tea Series

I've just finished working on this really fun project for Yellow Bird Project based in Montreal, they work with some amazing musicans including the Shins and Bon Iver, selling tshirts with the profits going to different charities chosen by the bands.

The teas series will be launching on the site for Valentines day, with photos of the product. The shiny 3D models of the tea tins above are courtesy of my clever husband! As well as all of the packaging, I created the banners for the site which I've posted along with the tins above.

New collection for CHA

I've been busy on a new 'mix and match' sketchy collection for Pink Light to show at CHA in LA this month from Jan 29th - Feb 1st. I've posted a few above, there are loads more and I went a bit mad with different colourways too!

My favorites are the little owls and the russian dolls with buttons (my favourite things!) I'd SO love to have samples of these printed on fabric! Fingers crossed they go down well :)

New little illustration for a packaging pitch, which includes fruit, a butterfly, a bird, stars and non specific flowers! I can't decide which colour I like best, I think it will eventally be used in 3 colours. I prefer the desaturated colouring, making it vintagey looking.

ps: Nearly 100 real life followers, very exciting! I might have to find something to give away when I get to 100! x

I created this russian doll illustration for our friends wedding invites, he is half Norweigan and 'bryllupsfering' means 'wedding celebrations'.

They've recently had baby Johann so he's the tinest doll, and both the boys will be wearing a Norwegian 'bunad' - mega cute!

I've landed back on planet earth (just about) after the most wonderful wedding day and honeymoon I could have hoped for! Our beautiful photographs were taken by Emma Case, (go check out her blog) who I drew in the post below, and amazingly our wedding was also blogged today by Annabel on the wedding blog Love my Dress !

You can see below all of the decorations we made for the tables, with intricate origami made for us by a friend with old book pages (alice in wonderland and treasure island,) paper flowers with vintage buttons, feathers and glass domes. We collected moss, twigs and mushrooms from the woods and luckily it all came together and looked good! (it was kind of in our heads until 2 weeks before the wedding!)

So...it's back to work, back to the blog and back to everything else I deserted in the run-up to the wedding! Hello married life :)

So it's a bit scary, but I have handed in my notice at my full-time greetings card job, and have a brand new one lined up... 3 days a week!!

I will have 2 whole days to focus on my freelance work, after late nights and squeezing things in, I'm so excited!! :)

Now I need to get myself a new desk - a proper area to work (not my trusty 'dave' ikea laptop stand and the sofa!) and a new shiny big screen to plug into my laptop. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

2010 is going to be a very exciting year for me, I'm getting married in 6 months! Lots of planning to fit in around new projects.

I'm currently working on roughs for a book by Shelia Melot called 'The Chocolate Choir', illustrations for the MHRA website and patterns for Pink Light.

I've posted above the moodboard I've made as inspiration for my wedding decorations. I'm going to be making lots of crafty fun things for the tables, starting soon!
